Crossover Program-Barber Training for Licensed PA Cosmetologists
The Barber School of Pittsburgh offers Barber Training for actively licensed PA cosmetologists . These individuals will receive credit for 555 transfer hours towards the 1250 hour requirement. Course Description
The goal of the Barber School of Pittsburgh's Barber Program is to educate students in the art of barbering through theory and practical experience and to prepare students for the PA Barber State Board Exams. Students are trained to perform desirable sanitation and safety habits in addition to professional development. Students will be prepared to enter the workforce either in an existing shop or open their own shop as a successful barber.
Course Goals
- Students will be trained by using both theory and practical work to assist them in gaining all the skills necessary to become a successful barber.
- When students have finished the course the will be ready to take and successfully pass the PA Barber State Board Exams.
- When students have finished the course and passed all necessary exams they will be prepared to work in a professional barber shop/salon as a licensed barber.
- When students have finished the course they will be capable of performing in barber related occupations.
- When students have finished the course they will have developed employer and employee relationships and the means to communicate effectively.
Course Format
- All aspects of barbering will begin with a lecture on each topic.
- After each lecture there will be practical demonstrations.
- Audio visual materials will be used to enhance certain topics.
- Theory and practical worksheets will be used.
- Illustrations will be used.
- Written and practical testing will be done to evaluate progress and identify any weakness.
Evaluation Procedures
- Progress will be followed by testing in theory, practical and clinical areas.
- There will be testing after each unit of study.
- There will be evaluation during clinic workshops and practicals.
- There will be a final exam.
Required Level of Achievement
All students will be required to maintain at least a 75% grade point average in order to receive your certificate of completion and be ready to take the PA Barber State Board Examinations.
